About Us
Have you always dreamed of breathing underwater and exploring the mysteries of the ocean? For countless travelers, a Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) experience highlights their entire journey to the Philippines. The initial sensation of taking a deep, calm breath below the surface, the soft sound of bubbles rising through the water column, and the incredible feeling of floating weightlessly over vibrant coral reefs create an unforgettable memory. Bohol and Panglao Island are celebrated globally for offering some of the most beginner-friendly diving conditions on the planet. Unlike destinations plagued by cold temperatures, unpredictable washing-machine currents, or murky water, our local marine parks deliver warm tropical waters, exceptional visibility, and gentle reef drop-offs. This makes the region an ideal, stress-free classroom for your first underwater steps.
Beyond the shoreline, Bohol is an international travel hub packed with stunning scenery. Many of our guests seamlessly pair their morning ocean adventures with classic land excursions, checking out local white sand beaches, exploring hidden jungle waterfalls, or booking a complete countryside tour through our comprehensive Bohol Guide and our curated breakdown of the best Things to Do in Bohol.
The single biggest factor that separates a stressful introductory dive from a life-changing underwater experience is the size of your group. We refuse to participate in crowded, factory-style tourist operations. We firmly believe that first-time divers deserve undivided personal attention, calm supervision, and a completely unhurried learning progression.
By keeping our beginner ratios exceptionally low, our instructors can monitor your comfort levels continuously, adjust the pacing to match your personal rhythm, and ensure you feel safe, relaxed, and supported every single second you are underwater.
To make your diving day completely seamless, we highly recommend swinging by our Panglao dive shop the afternoon before your activity. This brief orientation allows us to complete your administrative paperwork, fit your high-quality rental equipment precisely, answer any personal questions, and detail the flow of the upcoming adventure so you can arrive on the morning of
your dive feeling relaxed and confident.
Stepping into the ocean for the first time is an exciting milestone. To help you plan your day, here is a transparent breakdown of exactly what our beginner diving program includes:
Our boat departs at approximately 8:00 AM. As we cruise out toward the dive sites, your instructor will conduct a thorough, easy-to-understand briefing tailored for beginners. You will
learn exactly how your scuba gear functions, basic underwater hand communication, proper ear
equalization techniques, and critical safety protocols. Our instructors take all the time necessary to ensure everyone onboard feels well-informed and eager to dive.
Your very first entry into the water focuses entirely on building effortless confidence. Before swimming out to the reef, you will stand or hover in a calm, shallow sandy area (maximum 5 meters) to practice a few foundational safety skills, such as clearing water out of your mask and recovering your breathing regulator. The moment you take your first breath underwater, your brain might experience a brief moment of disbelief. But as you continue to breathe slowly, your heart rate settles, your comfort rises, and you realize how incredibly peaceful the ocean truly is. Once you are completely
comfortable, your instructor will lead you on a gentle underwater tour where you can meet
colorful clownfish, hunting lionfish, and vibrant soft corals.
After surfacing from your first dive, you will enjoy a relaxing one-hour surface interval on the boat. This is the perfect time to chat about your experience, share your excitement, and recharge your energy with complimentary fresh local fruits, water, tea, and coffee while soaking
in the beautiful tropical scenery of the Panglao coastline.
The second dive is universally everyone’s favorite. With all the initial nervousness completely gone, your curiosity takes full control. Because you already know how to breathe and equalize, this dive focuses entirely on pure exploration. Depending on your personal comfort levels and
air consumption, your instructor will guide you along beautiful coral gardens and shallow wall
structures down to a maximum depth of 12 meters, where giant green sea turtles are known to
frequently glide past.
Bohol’s protected underwater ecosystems host an incredible array of marine life. Even as a first-time diver operating in shallow depths, you will have a front-row seat to an underwater theater that rivals any nature documentary:
Both green sea turtles and hawksbill turtles live on our reefs year-round, making regular, peaceful appearances right next to beginner divers.
Watch families of vibrant clownfish fiercely defending their swaying anemone homes in the shallow sunlit zones.
Swim alongside dense, shimmering clouds of damselfish, anthias, and colorful parrotfish feeding on the hard coral structures.
While our introductory dives take place on the pristine local reefs of Panglao, your newfound love for the ocean will inevitably make you look toward our world-famous offshore sanctuaries. Dedicated day trips to the breathtaking vertical drop-offs of Balicasag Diving or the wild, remote coral fields of Pamilacan Diving are highly sought-after adventures that you can unlock as you progress in your diving journey.
Did you know that the vast majority of passionate, globally certified divers started their journeys with a single, simple introductory vacation dive? For many travelers, the pure magic of discovering the reef completely rewires their perspective, sparking a lifelong passion for ocean exploration.
If you fall in love with the underwater world during your program, your adventure doesn’t have to
end there. Your Discover Scuba Diving experience can count as the very first step toward your
international SSI Open Water Diver Course. Earning your full Open Water license permanently
unlocks the freedom to dive down to 18 meters, plan independent dives with a buddy, and
explore thousands of world-class dive sites across the globe.
For your personal safety, international diving medical standards strictly require a minimum 24-hour surface interval between your last scuba dive and boarding a commercial aircraft. Please make sure to organize your travel schedule across the Philippine islands accordingly.
No, you do not need to be a competitive swimmer to participate. However, you should possess
basic water confidence, feel reasonably comfortable in water where you cannot touch the
bottom, and be able to easily maintain your balance while wearing a flotation jacket.
Feeling nervous is a completely normal human response to a brand-new environment. Your
instructor is a trained rescue professional who will stay within arm's reach of you at all times. If
you ever feel uncomfortable, simply give the hand signal, and your instructor will immediately
pause, help you stabilize your breathing, or safely and slowly escort you back to the sunny
surface. You are always in control.
Yes! Soft contact lenses can easily be worn comfortably underneath a standard scuba mask.
Alternatively, if you do not wear contacts, let our team know in advance—we have a selection of
prescription optical masks available at the dive center so you won’t miss a single detail of the
coral reef.
